Hair has been a passion of mine for 23 years now. I take pride in my work, as well as continuing education. I am always eager to expand my knowledge in the industry that I adore. In 2019, a dream came true when I was able to attend The Redken Exchange in New York City. I learned from some of the very best in the business and had the opportunity to become certified in different highlighting, blonding, and balayage techniques. The industry is always evolving and changing, so I continue to stay on top of the latest trends, often hosting classes at Moxie and participating in hands-on training whenever I can! I love to pamper my guests, making them feel confident and look AMAZING! It is my goal to always deliver a premium service that goes above and beyond your expectations. I specialize in dynamic custom color and blondes, and I offer several types of hair extensions for those of you looking for fuller or longer hair.

Before purchasing Moxie in 2023, I was at my last salon for over six years. You can expect me to build a relationship with you, always listen to what you are looking for (including your budget) and if we aren't a good fit, I will always make sure you are paired with the best stylist for your needs.  I can’t wait to meet you!

Sara moved to NC from Idaho to attend the Aveda Institute in Wilmington in 2022. After studying as an apprentice under owner Jessica for two years along with top stylists at Island Retreat Spa and Salon, sweet Sara gained a deep understanding of color and styling right from the start of her hair career.

Sara offers scalp care, braiding, hair extensions, highlights, haircuts and lived-in color. She loves working with all hair types and textures and is never afraid of a challenge!

Haley Avant, Hair Stylist

My name’s Haley Avant I’m a young stylist from Charlotte North Carolina now living in beautiful Downtown Southport. With over 8 years' experience and education with Paul Mitchel I specializes in all hair types. Through hair, my goal is to build your confidence and make you smile. Hair isn’t my only passion, I love bringing out your beauty with my brushes too! Makeup and hair have been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Outside of the salon I’m usually at the beach, on the boat, or with girlfriends! I’d love to have you in my chair!

Alissa Lamoureux, Hair Stylist

Curl Specialist

Alissa has been committed to excellence since she first began the cosmetology program at Cape Fear Community College. Finding a passion in working with hair of all textures, she was led to take an advanced Curl Specialist program to establish herself as one of only a handful of curl specialists in the area.

Alissa works on a diverse range of hair types, and loves giving blowouts and absorbing all of the knowledge she can!

My name is Abigail, and I'm from Fayetteville, North Carolina. I have been living the coastal life since 2020. I am passionate about making people feel their best and creating looks that boost confidence. I enjoy working with our guest to achieve styles that feel beautiful and realistic for their lifestyle. When I am not behind the chair , I'm usually watching Criminal Minds, trying out new food, or just hanging out with my pup, Pippa. I can't wait to meet you!

Hello, I'm Alli! I was born and raised in North Carolina and have spent my entire life here. I am currently a cosmetology student at Brunswick Community College, where I am pursuing my passion for hair and beauty. My goal is to specialize in blonding and extensions upon earning my license. I am dedicated to helping my clients look and feel their best, and I am excited about the opportunity to work with you!

Kelsey Augst, Apprentice Stylist

Hi, I’m Kelsey! I was born and raised right here in Wilmington, and I’m thrilled to be building my career in the community I love. I graduated from Cape Fear Community College and am currently apprenticing here as I continue to grow in the industry. Doing hair has always been a passion of mine, and I’m so excited to now call it my career. I especially love creating bouncy blowouts and helping each client achieve the look that makes them feel their most beautiful. On my days off, you can usually find me thrifting for unique finds or checking out new spots around town.

Katie Guthrie (Co-Owner)

Katie's passion lies in helping people achieve a greater sense of purpose and beauty from within. She and Jessica run Moxie with passion, love and dedication to provide quality services and a positive work environment for their staff.  Along with her husband Greg, she also owns and operates Island Retreat Spa and Salon on Bald Head Island, NC (where she met Jess!) and Seaward Studio Spa in Wilmington.

You will find Katie mostly behind the scenes at Moxie, but often popping by to give hugs, slap high fives and bring treats. Her favorite services at Moxie are the Serene Renewal Scalp Facial and the Osmosis Infusion Facial with Revitapen!
